Arroyo Grande
Considered one of the “5 Cities” of the California Central Coast, Arroyo Grande is located in San Luis Obispo County, just south of San Luis Obispo City. It is only 2 miles from the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Many residents are drawn to its ideal location, pleasant Mediterranean climate, top rated schools and great recreational facilities and destinations. The town is a preferred location for many retirees, but it also has a youthful energy as somewhat of a college town with its proximity to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
In 1862, the San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors established the township of Arroyo Grande. Today, it boasts a population of around 18,033. The town is rated 86 out of 100 on the Comfort Index, mostly due to the wonderful year-round climate. (The United States average Comfort Index for cities is 52 out of 100).
